The Method

To address this issue, the Media and Peacebuilding Project along with several partners is bringing together leading research efforts to create an edited book. It is hoped that this book will be a valuable resource and reference point for academics, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), intergovernmental organizations (IGOs), tech companies, and other actors seeking to understand and implement new programs that engage and further build this new communication ecology responsibly.

More specifically, this book will explore how communication technologies have contributed to conflict dynamics across the world and the interventions seeking to mitigate their impact, including discrete counterspeech efforts, structural media sector, educational reforms, and legal and platform governance reforms, including content moderation efforts. To ensure this publication addresses these issues from both a scholarly and a practical angle, the discussion incorporates perspectives from academics, civil society organizations and activists, and IGO representatives.
